Why Injections?

Living in chronic pain is unrelenting. Not knowing how you’ll feel from one day to the next – making plans only to have to cancel them later – is frustrating and upsetting.

Injections are safe, effective solutions to manage pain and inflammation. They’re better solutions for long-term management of pain than oral medications, which can be addictive and cause other unwanted side effects. And injections are much less invasive than surgery.

With just a short outpatient visit, injections will get you back to your day-to-day life with no downtime.

At Holistic Healing Arts, we use different injection techniques to:

  • Relieve pain and inflammation

  • Reset the nervous system so your nerves don’t overreact to pain signals

  • Regenerate damaged tissues

The injections I’ve had at HHA have eliminated my severe pain.

“Before I came to HHA, I suffered with chronic pain for more than a decade. Severe SI joint pain, pelvic pain, and bladder pain were the worst. After receiving a series of injections all of my pain is virtually gone. My SI pain was so severe I sometimes couldn’t walk well. Now if I have pain, it’s barely noticeable”

We offer the following injections in our clinic:

Trigger Point Injections / Neural Therapy (NT)

Neural therapy works by resetting the normal functioning of the nerves in the treated area. It’s based on the idea that many chronic illnesses and pain are created by “interference fields”, blocking the flow of energy throughout your body.

When there’s trauma of any kind in the body, the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is injured, creating an energy block in that region. The ANS controls all of the bodily functions that you don’t have to think about, like breathing, circulation, body temperature and many others.

This energy block eventually leads to dysfunctional signaling of the nerves, which can cause chronic pain and disease.

Neural therapy uses a common local anesthetic, procaine, to reset the autonomic nervous system and restore function to the area.

What happens during neural therapy?

After the interference field has been identified, procaine is injected into the area.

Procaine restores the electrical potential of the cell membranes in the area.

This allows the autonomic nervous system to rebalance signals to the area.

Once proper signaling is restored, the surrounding tissues are restored.

When the proper functioning of the nervous system is restored, healing can begin. HHA physicians have trained with the esteemed Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, the developer of neural therapy.

Perineural subcutaneous injections (PSI)

PSI is an injection therapy using 5% dextrose to relieve pain. Dextrose is a simple sugar that completely eliminates nerve pain within seconds when injected under the skin. The dextrose works by restoring the cell’s normal function.

And PSI doesn’t just relieve pain. Follow-up ultrasounds show evidence that PSI stimulates healing in deeper tissues of the body.

PSI is extremely safe with few, if any, side effects. PSI typically needs to be repeated, but after several treatments, lasting pain relief can be achieved.

What happens during PSI Therapy?

A 5% dextrose solution is injected into the area of concern.

Tissues in and around the treated area begin to heal and regenerate.

Prolotherapy with Ozone Therapy

Prolotherapy with ozone is an injection containing ozone – a naturally occurring gas made up of 3 atoms of oxygen. The ozone encourages the immune system to repair damaged tissues. In addition to ozone, prolozone injections also contain vitamins, minerals, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Prolozone therapy helps heal tissues that may have an accumulation of lactic acid. This lactic acid buildup can cause inflammation, dysregulation, and pain. Prolozone therapy can:

  • Improve circulation

  • Increase antioxidant protection

  • Stimulate mitochondrial activity

What happens during Prolotherapy with Ozone?

The injection is applied around areas of pain in your joints, ligaments, tendons, and nerves.

green graphic of the number two

The oxygen supply to tissues is increased, boosting your body’s ability to heal and reducing pain.

green graphic of the number three

Your body’s immune system is stimulated at the cellular level to begin regenerating tissues.

green graphic of the number four

Your body begins regenerating collagen and cartilage to repair the damaged joints and ligaments.

When you give injured tissue what it needs to heal, pain often resolves. HHA physicians have had post-graduate training in ozone therapy OneLiving Medicine and Dr. Dennis Harper – leading experts in this cutting-edge therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon will I notice results?

Like most things, results are highly individual. Some patients feel better immediately. Others may feel sore for several days after the injection. Your overall symptoms should gradually improve over several days. In some cases, repeat injections will be needed for the desired outcome.

Is injection therapy covered by insurance?

Many types of injections are often covered by insurance. We’ll provide you with a superbill so you can submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement of any services your plan might cover. Reimbursement varies and is dependent on each unique insurer and plan selected. There is no guarantee for reimbursement of service fee. Services are payable by cash or credit upon checkout.

If you have questions, please contact your insurance, HSA, or FSA provider for further information. For a helpful list of questions to ask your insurance provider, download our Insurance Worksheet.

How much does it cost?

Injection prices are determined by the type of injection, the location of the injection, and the specific dosing required.
