Neural Therapy
Restore the flow of energy in your nervous sytem.
Stimulate healing
Relieve chronic pain
Improve scar tissue
What Is Neural Therapy?
Neural therapy is a type of injection using a common local anesthetic called procaine. The procaine is injected into various locations in your body, including:
Scars
Trigger points
Acupuncture points
Tendon and ligament insertions
Peripheral nerves
Autonomic ganglia
It’s frequently used to treat chronic pain, scar tissue, and other conditions.
“The first day I was treated at HHA with neural therapy, I felt 50% better.”
– M.P., New York
How Does Neural Therapy Work?
Neural therapy is based on the concept that energy flows freely throughout your body. When your body is subjected to a stressor like an illness, injury, or scar – the normal energy flow between your nerves is disrupted.
Think of a barricade on a highway, disrupting the flow of traffic. Like the barricade, the energy “disturbance” blocks the flow of electrical energy in your autonomic nervous system. Chronic illness and pain may be initiated or perpetuated by this autonomic dysfunction.
The injection of procaine “resets” the electrical potential of the cell membranes in the area. This allows the autonomic nervous system to rebalance signaling and restore normal functioning of the nerves in the treated area.
The injection of procaine has other benefits, too, including:
Anti-inflammatory effects, which last much longer than the numbing effect
Regulating neurotransmitters
Stabilizing membranes
Modulating the immune system
The result is improved communication in your nervous system, improved energy flow, and reduction of pain.
Neural Therapy can be helpful for these conditions and symptoms:
Chronic pain
Headaches and migraines
Infertility and menstrual cramps
Arthritis
Chronic bowel problems
Connective tissue and myofascial pain
Dizziness
Sports or muscle injuries
Irritable bladder or interstitial cystitis
These are just a few examples. Any condition that has an autonomic nervous system component may be caused by an interference field, and may improve with neural therapy.
Why Haven’t I Heard of Neural Therapy Before?
Although neural therapy is relatively unknown in the United States, it’s been used widely by physicians in Europe for more than 50 years. It’s even considered part of conventional medicine in German and Spanish speaking countries.
Neural therapy is part of a medical approach known as European Biological Medicine. The physicians at Holistic Healing Arts were all trained in neural therapy by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, a pioneer in the field of European Biological Medicine.
It is a very safe therapy. Injections are very shallow. But anytime we break the skin, there is a small risk of bruising and infection. In our experience, patients handle neural therapy extremely well with few, or no, side effects.
“Any part of the body that has been traumatized or ill—no matter where it is located—can become an interference field which may cause disturbance anywhere in the body.”
– Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt
Frequently Asked Questions
How soon will I notice results?
Like most things, results are highly individual. Some patients feel better immediately. Others gradually improve over several days. And others require many neural therapy sessions to notice improvement.
Is neural therapy covered by insurance?
Sometimes. We’ll provide you with a superbill so you can submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement of any services your plan might cover. Reimbursement varies and is dependent on each unique insurer and plan selected. There is no guarantee for reimbursement of service fee. Services are payable by cash or credit upon checkout.
If you have questions, please contact your insurance, HSA, or FSA provider for further information.
How much does it cost?
Prices vary according to the type of injection, the location treated, and the amount of procaine used. But single injections and injection patterns generally range from $55-125. More complicated injections or the addition of other medications to the injection may increase the cost, which will be discussed at the time of appointment.
How do I get started?
Neural therapy is an option for treatment with any one of our physicians. Patients just seeking neural therapy are best served scheduling with Dr. Marina Johnson.
